The Summit Organising Committee invites abstract submissions for:

The Australasian Lean Healthcare Summit program will be developed with the overall theme of Building Healthcare Improvement – Piece by Piece. Sub-themes that will be explored include:

  • Getting it Right Each Day - Deploying a Daily Operating System in Healthcare
  • Lean Thinking in the Aged Care Sector
  • Determining the Value of Continuous Improvement - Financial and Other Measures
  • Developing the Next Generation of Lean Thinking Clinicians
  • From Door to Floor - Improving The Healthcare Supply Chain Using Lean Thinking Concepts

Details of Call for Abstracts

Oral Presentations will occur on 31 May, 2018
Oral presentations will be scheduled in concurrent sessions based on themes. The presentations will be 15 minutes in length with 5 minutes allocated for questions. Some abstracts may be considered for inclusion in other areas of the summit program. Note: Abstracts not accepted for Oral presentations may be offered a Poster Presentation instead.

Posters / Storyboards will be featured on 30 and 31 May, 2018
A poster or storyboard presentation is a formal graphic presentation of a topic. Session times will be organised for presenters to be at their posters to discuss their work and receive feedback. Posters are encouraged to be landscape storyboards rather than portrait layout (however portrait will be accepted). Posters should be no larger than 1m x 1.5m.

General Guidelines for Submissions

  • An abstract of a maximum of 250 words should be submitted
  • Abstracts that relate to the summit themes will be considered favourable.
  • The Summit organisers are seeking original work with definitive outcomes. The Summit organisers will not be held responsible for submission errors caused by internet service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or unforseen events
  • It is the responsibility of the presenting author to ensure that the abstract is submitted correctly
  • Responsibility for the accuracy of abstracts rests with the author
  • Include the names of all authors in your application
  • Where there are co-authors, only one abstract is to be submitted. The presenting author is responsible for ensuring the co-authors agree with and are aware of the content before submitting the abstract
  • Abstracts should be organised under the following headings:
    • Problem / Background
    • Method (Diagnostics / Interventions)
    • Results
    • Lessons Learned
  • The closing date for abstracts is March 2, 2018
  • A committee will review all abstracts and the committee reserves the right to accept and reject abstracts for inclusion in the program
  • All Authors will receive notification of outcome of their submission by March 16, 2018
  • All presenting authors must register and pay for the Summit by April 27, 2018 otherwise the abstract will be removed from the program


All abstracts will go through the following process:

  • An email confirmation of receipt of abstract will be sent
  • All abstracts will be reviewed by a panel from the organising committee
  • Authors will be notified of their abstract results by March 16, 2018
  • All accepted abstracts for oral presentations and posters will be published in the Summit Program Handbook

Abstract Submission 2018
